Why do some Black women maintain smooth, firm-looking skin well into their 60s β€” while others see fine lines and dark spots appear earlier than expected?

It's a question skincare experts studying melanated skin are now exploring more seriously than ever.

According to Danielle Coleman, a Harvard-trained skincare expert who has spent over a decade focused on the unique biology of Black skin, the answer may have less to do with age or expensive products β€” and more to do with how Black skin responds to today's environment and products that weren't originally designed for it.

"Black skin has biological characteristics that are distinct from other skin types," Coleman explains. "Yet most skincare products in the U.S. were developed and tested without these differences in mind. That's something the skincare field is beginning to address."

Her work draws attention to a fascinating area of skincare research: how traditional skincare practices from regions like Jamaica β€” passed down through generations β€” may complement modern care for women of color.

One of these practices is what Jamaican women have long referred to as the "Jamaican Botox" β€” a simple nightly ritual using three traditional natural ingredients that has recently caught the attention of Black women across America.

"It's not a replacement for professional advice," Coleman clarifies. "But many of the women who have learned about this ritual have shared that incorporating these traditional ingredients into their nighttime routine has helped them feel more confident about how their skin looks and feels."

The growing interest has come almost entirely through word of mouth in online Black women's communities, with thousands sharing their experiences over the past year.

One woman shared:

"I didn't change anything else in my routine. But after a few weeks of doing the Jamaican ritual at night, my skin started feeling more hydrated and brighter. It's something I'd never tried before β€” and I'm glad I did."

Which is why we wanted to share access to Coleman's short educational presentation β€” so you can learn more about what's been catching the attention of so many.

For years, my face had been melting into someone I didn't recognize anymore β€” deep dark spots, sagging cheeks, and the tired look I couldn't hide no matter how much makeup I put on. Doctors kept selling me $400 creams that did nothing on my skin. Then I discovered Dr. Coleman's Jamaican Botox. After 3 weeks, my facial contour started lifting and dark spots I'd carried for over 20 years began fading. My grandkids asked if I had "done something." I just smiled.

This Jamaican Botox ritual is incredible. In just a few weeks, the dark circles I'd had for over a decade started fading. And within two months, the sagging around my jaw was almost completely gone. And no, it wasn't injections or surgery like most people assume. It was all thanks to this simple 3-ingredient ritual I started every night. The before-and-after photos you see here are the real results of this natural method, just like Dr. Coleman explained to me. I truly believe every Black woman over 40 should try this. Because it really works β€” and you can feel the difference in just days.

I noticed my crow's feet at 43 and panicked. I tried every cream on the white beauty bloggers' lists β€” none of them worked on my skin. Started the Jamaican Botox 3 weeks ago and the lines around my eyes are already smoother, my dark circles softer, and my skin glowing again. Don't wait until your 60s like my mother did. Start now.
